Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By registering for, accessing, or using Kinny ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you may not access or use the application.

2. Accounts & Family Group Onboarding

Registration: You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account and maintain the security of your login credentials. You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account.

Vouching & Access Control: Access to a family vault may require approval or vouching from existing core family members. Kinny operates under a shared democratic governance model; core members hold equal access permissions within their designated family vaults.

3. Acceptable Use & Upload Content

Kinny is strictly intended for lawful family media storage, document archiving, and private record-keeping. You agree NOT to use the platform to upload, post, or distribute:

  • Content that violates local, state, national, or international copyright or privacy laws.
  • Illicit, abusive, harassing, defaming, or hate-oriented material.
  • Malicious software, scripts, or files designed to compromise system security or overload server resources.
  • Commercial spam, unauthorized advertising, or automated bot usage.

4. Content Ownership & Family Legacy

Your Content: You retain ownership rights to the files, photos, and media you upload to Kinny.

Shared License within Vault: By uploading content to a family vault, you grant other authorized members of that vault the right to view, download, and store copies of that content according to their role permissions (Edit vs. View).

Member Departure: Because Kinny is designed for multi-generational historical preservation, content contributed to a family vault remains in the vault even if the uploader's account is removed, unless explicitly deleted by a member with edit rights or requested via support.

5. Deletion & Trash Retention

Files deleted in Kinny are placed into a shared Family Trash Bin (soft-delete) before permanent removal. Kinny reserves the right to automatically purge soft-deleted items after a designated retention period or when storage quotas are exceeded.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WHILE KINNY TAKES REASONABLE MEASURES TO PREVENT DATA LOSS AND SECURE FILES, WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR ABSOLUTELY IMMUNE TO DATA LOSS OR SYSTEM FAILURES. YOU ARE ENCOURAGED TO MAINTAIN INDEPENDENT BACKUPS OF CRITICAL LEGAL DOCUMENTS.

7. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, KINNY AND ITS DEVELOPERS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNISHABLE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, OR GOODWILL RESULTING FROM YOUR ACCESS TO OR INABILITY TO ACCESS THE SERVICE.

8. Termination & Changes

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to any user or family group that violates these Terms or abuses platform storage limits. We may also modify these Terms or features of the Service at any time with reasonable notice provided through the application interface.
